"We've Been Here Before" is the first release from Gimson and Pound To The Credit's upcoming album "Is It Still 1984?" which is expected to drop in August 2023.
"We've Been Here Before" is a thought-provoking boom bap UK hip hop track that tackles a range of societal issues, including war, politics, and technology, as well as human nature and the cycle of history repeating itself. The single critiques the way that violence and aggression are taught to people, and how modern society has evolved to become more violent and aggressive. The chorus, "We’ve been here before, trying to make a classic like it’s 1994," suggests a desire to create something timeless and significant in response to the chaotic and uncertain times in which we live.
"We've Been Here Before" was produced entirely by Australian hip-hop producer Pound To The Credit and mastered by Suture. All production was handled in Australia, and all vocals were recorded in the UK. Both Gimson and Pound To The Credit worked remotely, sending recordings and productions over the internet.
Gimson's upcoming album "Is It Still 1984?" will feature collaborations with UK hip-hop artists Lomax, Ill Sykes, HiHatter, and The Inglorious Poet. The album promises to deliver more of Gimson's unnerving social commentaries, lifting the veil and exposing the harsh and seemingly surreal realities of modern life.
